Therfield School Summer 2021 Policy
This will be published by Friday 30th April in line with the JCQ guidance.
Candidates will be eligible for special consideration if they have been fully prepared and have covered the whole course but performance in a significant assessment, or in the production of coursework or non-examination assessment at any point throughout the 2-year course, is materially affected by adverse circumstances beyond their control.
Special consideration is an adjustment to a candidate’s mark or grade to reflect temporary illness, temporary injury or some other event outside of the student's control at the time of an assessment, which has had, or is reasonably likely to have had, a material effect on a student's ability to take an assessment or demonstrate his or her normal level of attainment in an assessment.
Due to the unprecedented circumstances of GCSE and A Level examinations being cancelled, Therfield School are using evidence of achievement throughout the 2-year course to support a predicted grade, and therefore an adverse circumstance that occurred at any point throughout the course may be considered for special consideration.
We encourage parents to inform us of any circumstances you believe will have had a material effect on a student's performance. An application is not a guarantee of an adjustment being made and each application will be reviewed individually and by a member of Therfield School Leadership Team. Quality Assurance of this process will occur through a nominated governor.
