Therfield GCSE Results 2020

We are extremely proud of the Therfield class of 2020 and congratulate them on some really well deserved achievements.

We are delighted to celebrate the hard work and dedication of a great Year 11 cohort at Therfield. The impact of the last few weeks has no doubt been stressful for students and parents but we are pleased to share their fantastic achievements with them today. We are really proud of the students for all of their commitment.

Our students did not get a chance to show what they would have achieved in formal GCSE exams but instead, there has been a complex process to allocate a ‘centre assessment grade’ (CAG) and a ranking for each student in each subject.  In recent months there has been some debate and controversy in the media about the CAG process, but we must not allow this to distract from celebrating the hard work of our students over time.  These students did not get the chance to have the usual leavers' events, and it is important that they can move on to the next stage in their education with a sense of achievement and recognition.

We would like to recognise some outstanding individual achievements:

  • Danny Hoff achieved nine grade 9’s and one grade 8
  • Hannah Sheppard achieved eight grade 9’s and two grade 8’s
  • Amy Wild achieved nine grade 9’s and two grade 8’s
  • Charlotte Fitzwater achieved seven grade 9’s, two grade 8’s and a grade 7
  • Andre Viljoen achieved six grade 9’s and four grade 8’s

We look forward to seeing a large number of our students return to our successful Sixth Form and wish those going onto other provisions the very best. We are extremely proud of the Therfield class of 2020 and congratulate them on some really well deserved achievements.

Therfield A Level Results 2020

We are delighted to be able to congratulate the Class of 2020 for their many achievements and to wish them well as they move on to the next phase of their lives with our full support and best wishes.

Today we are celebrating the hard work and achievements of our students here at NAME School.  Whilst their studies and preparation for the exams were abruptly halted by the lockdown at the end of March and the cancellation of the A Level and GCSE exams for this summer, we want to celebrate their many achievements over the course of the 5/7 years they have been with us.

Our students did not get a chance to show what they would have achieved in formal A Level and GCSE exams but instead, there has been a complex process to allocate a ‘centre assessment grade’ (CAG) and a ranking for each student in each subject.  In recent months there has been some debate and controversy in the media about the CAG process, but we must not allow this to distract from celebrating the hard work of our students over time.  These students did not get the chance to have the usual leavers' events, and it is important that they can move on to the next stage in their education with a sense of achievement and recognition.

From a school perspective, the results have been allocated according to a standardisation model which uses the results from previous years, rather than being a reflection of the standards in the school in the academic year 2019-20. As a result, the DfE are not compiling or publishing any school performance figures, and so in keeping with this, Surrey schools and others more widely will not be publishing school level performance figures for June 2020.

We would like to recognise some stand out results from individuals who have worked incredibly hard:

  • Rachel Smith who achieved 4 A*s and will attend University of St Andrews
  • Emily Fitzwater who achieved 3 A*s and will attend Loughborough University
  • Zak Nunns who achieved 3 A*s and will attend University of East Anglia
  • Giovanna Thomas who achieved A*A*A and will attend Durham University
  • Archie Lowery who achieved A*AA and will attend the University of Leeds
  • Dana Hargrave who achieved A*AA and will attend Queen Mary University of London

Today represents the end of one phase of each student's education, and the opportunity to recognise and celebrate what they have achieved.  We are delighted to be able to congratulate the Class of 2020 for their many achievements and to wish them well as they move on to the next phase of their lives with our full support and best wishes.

Summer 2020 exam certificates are now ready for collection.
