As the countdown to the London Paralympic Games begins, the Therfield School Sports Leadership Group have taken up the “Sainsbury’s 1 Million Kids Challenge” to help get more students interested and involved with Paralympic Sports. The Year 13 Students who are working towards their Sports Leaders UK Level 3 Award in Higher Sports Leadership Award were joined by Mark Regan from Leatherhead Sainsbury’s, to try their hand at three popular Paralympic Sports of Goalball, Seated Volleyball and Blind Football.
As part of the Higher Sports Leaders Award, the Year 13 Students are developing their knowledge and understanding of the requirements of working with Disabled Individuals in Sport, and will over the next few weeks, be going out into the Community to support sporting initiatives. They have accepted the Challenge from Sainsbury’s to get as many students as possible involved; and are really looking forward to the opportunity of leading these three exciting Paralympic sports to our students in the lower years. The ultimate challenge for this group of Leaders now is to count up all those they have introduced, for the chance to win Therfield School the opportunity to be involved in the Paralympic Torch Relay.
