The Therfield School Key Stage 3 History club held its inaugural Tudor Party this week. Students from Year 7, 8 and 9 came along to an afternoon of food, games and activities. The event was organised to promote the new History club, as well as to celebrate all things Tudor!
The menu for the party include blancmange, pies, hot cross buns, jelly, flagons of ginger ale, pigs trotters and a real pigs head! The pupils also enjoyed authentic tudor games like real tennis, apple bobbing, skittles and croquet. Similarly, the students had the opportunity to design their own ruffs, make a plasticine Tudor Rose and design Tudor currency.
Student quotes included: “I have never seen a real pigs head before, I can’t believe the Tudors used to eat that!” and “The apple bobbing competition was really good. I got them all in 14 seconds!”
Special thanks should go to F. Conisbee & Son butchers for providing the eye-catching meat! The event was good fun for all students and staff involved. Suggestions for next year include a Victorian or a Roman party!
